Sylvia Murray started piano and songwriting at age 4 and guitar at 12. Sylvia captivates listeners with her insights into daily life expressed in songs about love, family outings, characters, hardships, betrayed lovers, fatherless girls, sons serving in Iraq, triumph, failure, sickness, death and the supernatural. Sylvia's songs often make listeners laugh and sometimes make them weep.

Professional songwriter Tia Sillers ("I Hope You Dance") said Sylvia is "like a modern day Woody Guthrie". Randy Sharpe (credits for Dixie Chicks, Reba, Dolly Parton, Glen Gampbell and Emmylou Harris) says, "In the 30 years that I have been songwriting, I never before heard a song about someone reposessing land written from the bank loan officer's point of view!"
